5x white tiles with dark tile grout

For the past decades it was common practice to match the colour of the tile grout to the colour of the tiles. White tiles, white grout, black tiles, black grout.
So when I first saw a photo of Lotta Agaton some years ago showing white tiles with dark grout I couldn't believe my eyes and actually thought it was old fashioned. But the best ideas actually need time to grow on you to make a lasting impression. I should have known Lotta Agaton knows best. And making a grid on your kitchen or bathroom is now perfectly fine. For the trendsetters among us, of course. Most constructors will probably still check your choice twice for some time...

De laatste decennia was het normaal om tegel en voegkleur op elkaar af te stemmen: witte tegel - witte voegen, zwarte tegel - zwarte voegen.

Toen ik een paar jaar geleden voor het eerst een foto zag van Lotta Agaton van een wand met witte tegels met donkere voegen vond ik dat dus echt niet mooi. Maar sommige ideeën hebben tijd nodig om aan te wennen en als Lotta Agaton ermee komt, dan moet het wel aanslaan.

Zo'n 'rooster' maken op je keuken- of badkamermuur is dus weer helemaal prima. Dat wil zeggen als je een trendsetter bent. De meeste tegelzetters zullen je nog wel twéé keer vragen of je het zeker weet...

Nordic Inspiration: muted tones in stunning Södermalm apartment

This apartment in Östermalm-Stockholm is for sale and I don't think it will be on the market for long.
It is filled with stunning features like coloured ceilings and carefully chosen materials and furniture, and is part of a historic building.
I have chosen this aprtment because of its beautiful colour choices. I love the whites and greys and accents of black, but I think the hints of classy colour make it so much more personal.

Dit appartment in Östermalm-Stockholm is te koop en ik denk niet dat het lang op de markt zal blijven. 
Het zit vol adembenemende accenten, zoals gekleurde plafonds en zorgvulig gekozen materialen en meubels.
Ik wil je dit appartement laten zien om zijn prachtige kleurkeuzes. Het wit, het grijs en de zwarte accenten zijn al mooi, maar worden door de stijlvolle kleuren die de eigenaren erbij hebben gekozen, zoveel persoonlijker.
Meer foto's vind je hier, maar ben snel voor ze weg zijn.

Stylish and practical: cork wall

My office really needs a make-over and no, I'm not posting any photos. You would wonder how on earth ANY serious work can come out of it. Apparently I'm one of those people that need a mess around them to be productive...
But my radar for decorating ideas is on and on Coco Lapine's blog I came across this great idea for a cork wall. It looks nice and natural and would be perfect for pinning notes, ideas and inspiring images.
Seems pretty cool for a kitchen or children's room too.

Mijn kantoor is hard aan een make-over toe en nee, ik ga geen foto's plaatsen. Je zou je alleen maar afvragen hoe daar in hemelsnaam nog enig serieus werk vandaan komt. Blijkbaar hoor ik tot de mensen die het beste werken met heel veel spullen om zich heen...
Maar mijn radar voor ideeën staat aan en op Coco Lapine's blog zag ik dit geweldige idee voor een kurken wand. Het ziet er mooi en natuurlijk uit en zou perfect zijn om notities, ideeën en inspirerende plaatjes op vast te prikken.
Lijkt mij ook heel geschikt in de keuken, of een kinderkamer.

Lakrids recipe in yellow

These charming little cakes would be perfect for Easter or any other sunny day.
The recipe can be found here on the Lakrids blog. I haven't made them yet but it doesn't look too complicated.
You will need the Lakrids Raw Liquorice powder. I'm not quite sure if I will succeed in finding the flowers, but I'm gonna make the cakes anyway. A Lakrids 'B' (the passionfruit kind) will probably also do a nice job.

HAPPY EASTER!

Deze lieve cakejes zijn perfect voor Pasen of elke andere zonnige dag. Het recept vind je hier op de blog van Lakrids. Ik heb ze nog niet gemaakt maar het ziet er niet moeilijk uit. Je hebt er de Lakrids Raw Liquorice Powder voor nodig.
Of ik de bloemetjes ga vinden (het is een soort oxalis), weet ik niet, maar de cakejes ga ik in elk geval maken. Anders zet ik er een Lakrids 'B' dropje op (die met passievrucht).

Behind the scenes: Meet the Blogger Masterclass Photography and Styling at Vitra

Friday 6th of March the beautiful Vitra showroom was invaded by 40 bloggers, eager to learn tips and tricks from photographer Wendy van Woudenberg (Beeldsteil) and Holly Marder (Avenue Lifestyle).
The Vitra team, Wendy and Holly were a golden combination that day: inspiring, energizing and welcoming. Thank you so much for this wonderful day!

Here are some of the photos I took that day.

The frst photos show the results of my own styling efforts (still room for improvement although I actually do like how some of them turned out). We were invited to take two styling pieces from our own home and I chose a white wire basket by Menu, 2 Vitra pencils and a black scented candle by Playtype.

Vrijdag 6 maart werd de prachtige showroom van Vitra letterlijk in beslag genomen door 40 bloggers. Allemaal uit op tips & tricks van fotograaf Wendy van Woudenberg (Beeldsteil) en blogger en stylist Holly Marder (Avenue Lifestyle).
Het Vitra team, Wendy en Holly waren een droom van een combinatie die dag: inspirerend en gastvrij. Allemaal heel erg bedankt voor de fantastische dag!

Hier zijn enkele foto's van deze dag.
De eerste zijn de resultaten van mijn eigen stylinginspanningen (er kan nog wel het een en ander beter maar sommige zijn toch best goed gelukt). We mochten 2 eigen stylingitems meenemen naar de Masterclass en ik koos voor een wit draadmandje van Menu, 2 Vitra potloden en een zwarte geurkaars van Playtype.
De tweede serie zijn indrukken van de Masterclass en de Vitra showroom.
