Nordic Inspiration: home of Nina Holst for sale

One of my favourite Scandinavian blogs is that of Norwegian Nina Holst, Stylizimo.
She shares the regular changes in her home and they are always full of inspiration, particularly if you love lots of white.
Now her current home is for sale. So sad to leave this beautiful place, as she says herself. I agree, but don't we all look forward to seeing what she will do with her brand new one?
Here is a last peek into Nina's house and a rare chance to see the outside of the house as well.

I really like Nina's movie room. We have one in our basement and it's quite dark with black walls and dark furniture. I always fall asleep watching a movie because of the lack of light! So I'm gonna show these photos to my husband to show that it can be a welcoming space too.

Een van mijn favoriete blogs is van de Noorse Nina Holst, Stylizimo. Ze verandert vaak wat aan haar huis en het geeft altijd weer nieuwe inspiratie, vooral als je van veel wit houdt.
Nu staat haar huidige huis te koop en ik ben nu al benieuwd wat ze met het volgende gaat doen!
Daarom een laatste blik in Nina's huis inclusief de buitenkant (die je tenslotte niet vaak te zien krijgt...).

Mij viel de filmkamer met het projectiescherm meteen op. Wij hebben ook zo'n kamer in onze kelder, maar die is met veel zwarttinten ingericht. Ik val altijd in slaap bij een film omdat het er zo donker is! Goed om te zien dat het ook anders kan.

Nordic Inspiration: fashion stylist Kim Grenaa's home in Vesterbro

Although I enjoy many many images of beautiful homes on the internet, it's rare that I come across a home where I absolutely love EVERYTHING.
This one is a fine example and I love sharing it with you.
The apartment in the Vesterbro area of Copenhagen is the home of fashion stylist Kim Grenaa and his family of boyfriend and the bull terrier Agnes.

The space is only 80 m2, but by keeping the furniture to a minimum and cleverly placing mirrors, it feels a lot bigger. Kim controls the amount of furniture by his rule "one new item in means one item out". The huge sliding balcony doors also increase the space and let in a lot of welcome sunshine.

Ik kan erg genieten van interieurfoto's op het internet, maar mijn hart maakt altijd een sprongetje als ik zo'n juweeltje tegenkom waarin ik ALLES geweldig vind.
Dit is een goed voorbeeld. Het appartement in de wijk Vesterbro in Kopenhagen wordt bewoond door modestylist Kim Grenaa en zijn gezin, bestaande uit zijn vriend en hun bull terrier Agnes.

Het totale oppervlak is maar 80 m2, maar door de hoeveelheid meubels tot een minimum te beperken en slim gebruik te maken van grote spiegelwanden, ziet het er een stuk groter uit. Kim heeft een regel die hij zo consequent mogelijk toepast: "iets nieuws erin is iets ouds eruit". De grote openslaande deuren naar het balkon  maken de ruimte ook nog eens groter en laten een welkome hoeveelheid zonlicht binnenvallen.

Nordic Inspiration: don't take it too seriously

This apartment in Stockholm has owners with a sense of humor. My favourite is the big cross on the bathroom mirror. Not suitable for people with low self esteem though.
They also have the Edison concrete lamp by Tove Adman alongside the bed, a classic favourite.

De bewoners van dit appartement in Stockholm hebben een apart gevoel voor humor. Vooral het kruis op de badkamerspiegel is hilarisch. Niet geschikt voor mensen met gebrek aan eigenwaarde!

Bij het bed hangt het betonnen Edison lampje, een klassieker en een favoriet in onze webshop.

Menu news fall 2014

It's amazing how much Menu has changed since their products appeared in my newly opened webshop, back in 2010.

I had no idea then that the brand would develop into the trendsetting brand it has become. And I'm so happy they did because I love Menu even more now. They call it 'soft minimalism' and they are doing it perfectly.

Het is verbazingwekkend hoezeer Menu veranderd is sinds ik hun producten in mijn pas geopende webwinkel opnam. Dat was in 2010.

Wie had kunnen vermoeden dat Menu na hun rebranding onder leiding van het duo Norm, nu een trendbepalend merk is geworden. Ik was al fan van wat ze doen, maar nu nog meer. Ze noemen het 'soft minimalsime' en ze werken dat concept met verve uit.

Nordic Inspiration: moss green kitchen

In this 'real' house (it's for sale through Fantastic Frank) I like the colour of the kitchen. It makes a nice contrast with the rest of the apartment, that is bright and lightly decorated. Green is hot right now!

In dit 'echte' appartement (het is te koop via Fantastic Frank) vind ik de kleur van de keuken erg mooi. Hij contrasteert goed met de verder lichte inrichting. En groen is hot nu!

DKK 1 million chair

At Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers in Copenhagen some very special chairs will be auctioned on September 25th.
From this Thursday September 11th the preview starts for the auction of early Danish design. The highlight of the auction is Flemming Lassen's Chair which has been estimated at DKK 1.000.000 (EUR 135.000). With these figures the chair is the most expensive chair in Denmark ever.
Also for sale will be 'The Hussar' (EUR 40.000), an easy chair upholstered with white sheepskin and 'The Tired Man' (EUR 67.000), also an easy chair with brown sheepskin. Both were designed by Flemming Lassen.

At the time it was designed (1938) Flemming's Chair was ignored by the public. People thought it was funny and worried that the gap in the back might cause a draught.
Clearly Flemming was ahead of his time, as is often the case with great designers.

Op 25 september wordt de naar schatting duurste Deense stoel ooit geveild bij veilinghuis Bruun Rasmussen. Het is 'Flemming's Chair' en de geschatte waarde is DKK 1 miljoen (EUR 135.000). Flemming en zijn broer Mogens Lassen zijn beroemde Deense architecten uit de vorige eeuw. Mogens ontwierp in 1962 de ikonische Kubus kandelaar.

Vanaf 11 september zijn de kijkdagen. Mocht je in Kopenhagen zijn, dan kun je dit museumstuk met eigen ogen aanschouwen.
