In the raw Finnish nature, close to the Gulf of Finland, lies the house of Hanna and Paavo Saarinen.
The 175 m2 white house from the eighties with black window sills is situated on a rock and was renovated vigorously by the talented couple. It looks minimalistic and inviting at the same time.
The fact that it is so well done is no wonder: Hanna is is marketing manager at Iittala and Arabia en designed furniture like the dining table and the sofa. Paavo works for Samsung and is 'responsible' for the enormous 65" TV in the living room.
I love the black woodwork. It frames the walls so nicely. I believe it is a huge barrier for most people to pick up a can of black paint and paint their rooms like this. White is so much safer. But look at the result. Isn't it stunning?
Like most Finnish houses Hanna and Paavo's has a sauna. And this is a very beautiful one too...
In de rauwe Finse natuur, bij de Finse Golf, ligt het huis van Hanna en Paavo Saarinen.
Het 175m2 grote, witte jaren 80-huis met zwarte kozijnen ligt op een rots en is door het stel grondig en met veel gevoel voor sfeer verbouwd. De inrichting is strak en minimalistisch en voelt uitnodigend.
Ik vind het zwarte houtwerk geweldig. Het kadert de muren mooi in en vormt een krachtig contrast. Voor veel mensen zal het een stap te ver zijn om met een blik zwarte verf aan de slag te gaan, maar het resultaat is verbluffend!
Dat het huis zo mooi is geworden kan ook niet anders: Hanna is is marketing manager bij Iittala en Arabia en ontwierp diverse meubels zoals de eettafel en de bank. Paavo werkt voor Samsung en is 'verantwoordelijk' voor de enorme 65 inch TV in de woonkamer.
Zoals de meeste huizen in Finland heeft ook het huis van Hanna en Paavo een sauna. En ook die mag gezien worden!
